I’ve worked as a journalist, editor and a ghostwriter. I started my career at publishers Bloomsbury, working on a non-fiction hardback and paperback list and with authors like the late Hunter S Thompson and award-winning BBC journalist Peter Taylor. Subjects included cookery, history, music, popular culture, sport, politics, memoir and biography.
Then, instead of editing books I wanted to learn how to write them so I became a journalist across regional and national press. I’ve reported from Africa, India and the US. I’ve been Deputy Editor of the Big Issue magazine and I’ve also written for magazines and newspapers including the Guardian and the Independent.
In between, I’ve sat on the judging panel for the Amnesty International Media Awards; developed and taught a design and journalism course for Farnborough Sixth Form College. More recently I have ghosted memoirs for Transworld and Penguin Random House. I’m currently the name behind Katie Price and I’m also (finally!) working on my own book – a love story set in the Greek Civil War.
I love stories and people and the challenge of creative problem solving. I’ll read anything from War and Peace to the Beano although if I ever finish a book it’s a miracle. My philosophy is that you never stop learning and I hope, as a mentor I can offer advice, practical help and encouragement, and learn from my mentee too. Above all, I’m committed, demanding and enthusiastic and expect the same from whoever I work with.
