Sophie Orme

sophie-ormeI am an editor with over ten years’ experience in the publishing industry, at Mantle, Pan Macmillan and Scribner, Simon & Schuster. I have commissioned and edited fiction in a wide range of genres including crime and thriller, reading group, historical fiction, upmarket women’s fiction and literary novels. I am lucky enough to have worked with many amazing authors from bestsellers Kate Morton and C. J. Sansom to award-winners Jane Smiley, Ray Celestin and Malcolm Mackay. I have a real passion for the editorial process and like nothing more than to roll my sleeves up and get stuck into untangling a manuscript. I enjoy page-turning literary fiction with broad appeal, heart-stopping historical novels and gripping crime and thrillers. I love books with a mystery at their heart, stories of messed up families, coming of age tales, love stories (particularly tragic ones), books with vivid and compelling settings (be they historical or contemporary), jaw-dropping twists and – above all – an engaging narrative voice. I’d love to help my mentee make their book the very best it can be and to offer advice and support wherever they are on their writing journey.
